What to wear in Qatar’s heat
From May to September, Doha regularly passes 40°C. The right fabric matters more than the brand. These choices keep you cooler without spending much.
Fabrics that work
- Linen. The best choice for heat. It is loosely woven, dries fast and gets softer with every wash. It creases, which is part of its look.
- Cotton. Breathable and easy to care for. Lighter weaves like poplin and voile are cooler than heavy jersey.
- Viscose and lyocell. Smooth and airy, and they drape well for skirts and wide trousers.
Fabrics to avoid outdoors
Polyester and nylon trap heat and sweat. They are fine for gym wear designed to wick moisture, but not for a long day outside.
Pieces worth owning
Pale colours reflect sunlight, loose cuts let air move, and a cap and sunglasses protect your face. Indoors, air conditioning is strong, so a light overshirt is useful too.
